Lo Sguardo della Dea (The Goddess’s Gaze): this is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited new attraction of summer 2025 in Torre Marina!
An impressive name, inspired by the protective gaze of the goddess Juno who, according to the verses of the poet Virgil, watched over the landscape from Monts Albanus. From the mountain, her gaze also reached Tor San Lorenzo, where the hero Aeneas landed, from whose lineage Rome was born.
But there is more to make Lo Sguardo della Dea a “heroic undertaking”! The entire catering business, including the beach bar, the icing on the cake of Torre Marina, will be managed by Sol.Inc. This social enterprise was set up on the initiative of the Fondazione Protettorato di San Giuseppe.
This will enable seven young people, who, upon reaching the age of majority, must leave the Protettorato di San Giuseppe, to enter the world of work and be accompanied on the important path to economic and organisational independence. After completing their training in the catering sector under the auspices of Sol.Inc., the seven young people, all of whom arrived in Italy as unaccompanied foreign minors, will be employed as waiters and assistant chefs alongside professionals in the sector to bring “the flavours and colours of the sea” to the table.
For the occasion, they will move into accommodation that they will be fully responsible for, but all in the beautiful setting of one of the most charming beaches on the Lazio coast.
Great satisfaction was also expressed by the President of the Fondazione Protettorato San Giuseppe, Elda Melaragno: ‘We have always considered work to be a fundamental tool to offer the young people we welcome into our family homes, especially those from abroad: once they leave here, they are at risk of becoming targets for networks offering easy and often illegal earnings. For this reason, I am really excited that the social enterprise Sol.Inc, which we strongly supported, has been awarded the management of this business: because now we can offer these young people not just a job, but a good job. I am sure that they will value and make the most of this opportunity, with the same seriousness and responsibility that they have learned and made their own during their time in the shelter. The Sol.Inc. Impresa sociale project and the Lo Sguardo della Dea restaurant and pizzeria were the subject of a press conference held on 28 July 2025 at the Roman headquarters of the Protettorato di San Giuseppe. The event was attended by institutional representatives, including the Mayor of Ardea, Fabrizio Cremonini, the Councillor for Social Inclusion and Personal Services of the Lazio Region, Massimiliano Maselli, and the President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, who emphasised the importance of the Protectorate and the Sol.Inc. project. ‘Even after they turn 18, we do not abandon our children, which is why it is right and admirable that the Protectorate continues to protect young people even after they reach adulthood by helping them enter the world of work.’
